I think the statement 'completely cleared him out' means that it made him very poor.

2. Why did Bryce give the elderly people loaves of bread for free?

Bryce gave the elderly people the loaves of bread because they would be stale then next day.

3. Do you think this is an act of kindness? Why/ why not?

Yes I do because he gave the bread out for free.

4. Why did Bryce see it as his right to give away bread to the needy?
